Due the fact they grow so quickly they can be bought affordably at small sizes, and they grow into a mature hedge within a few seasons. Laurel leaves have a different colour on different soils. The hungrier the soil the more yellow the leaves are whilst the greener they are the more fertile the soil is. Best planted at 30cm centres. Standard spacing is 45cm.
